Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What should I wear to class?

We recommend wearing clothes that allow free range of motion and coverage.
For ideal blood circulation and safety, we recommend being bare foot but you are more than welcome to wear socks.
Please note that we have a scent-free environment policy, so please do not wear any perfumes, colognes or products with a scent.

Q: I am pregnant. Is Pilates appropriate for me?

Pilates can be an excellent exercise program for pregnant and post-natal women.
We are able to offer this type of training and supervision in private or duet sessions only.
We encourage you to check with your doctor before beginning any exercise program.

Q: How often should I do Pilates?

Our suggestion is that you workout 2 – 4 times a week.
Since no method is a one fix for all, we strongly recommend the incorporation of some kind of cardio activity to your week. Like anything else, consistency is a key in achieving results and well-being.

Q: What are the benefits of Pilates?

We see daily the amazing things Pilates can do for bodies and minds. The benefits are numerous – strengthening core muscles, elongating the body, improving the strength and flexibility of the entire body, improving alignment, balance, and coordination,  reducing wear and tear pain, and boosting self-esteem.

Q: Is Pilates effective for weight loss?

Pilates has the ability to repair, renew, and restore like no other style of movement exercise. We are committed to helping you transform your body through intelligent exercise.

Pilates

Central to Pilates is the awakening of the “core” muscles: deep trunk muscles that control posture and are the prime movers of the limbs. Working from the inside out, Pilates movements will make you stronger and more coordinated for every activity in your life.  

Students often report getting taller from improved posture and lengthening in the spine, more energy in their daily life, weight loss, fuller breathing, and a greater sense of well-being.

Every movement in Pilates is a combination of strength, coordination, attention, and balance. It is important to pay attention to how you create each movement as you unfold your body. Pilates is an approach that works through any physical “stuckness” and produces real results, while still remaining enjoyable and challenging.

 

Group sessions are no more than seven people per one hour class and offer an affordable way to participate in full-body, mindful movement. We are the only Pilates studio at which each class is tailored for 30 minutes on the reformer and 30 minutes on the Cadillac, thus giving our clients a generous benefit of both apparatus in one class.                                                                                             

Private sessions are tailored to your personal goal and will give you an opportunity to have an in-depth, one-on-one exercise journey, which is customized to you. This is great for people with injuries or specific concerns, physical limitations, pregnant women, for those who want to see fast results, and even for performers preparing for a role.                                                                     

Gyrotonic

In a Gyrotonic® session, you will find your body unfolding in marvelous ways. Gyrotonic® provides very powerful conditioning and awareness through movements that increase the potential for mobility. Assisted by the Gyrotonic® Pulley Tower, you move in continuous, circular motions that generate energy, utilize the breath, and massage the body, both internally and externally.

Yoga

Yoga is a traditional practice from India encompassing awareness through breathing, meditation, and physical postures, all aiming towards spiritual liberation.  During the session, you will be moving your body through a variety of positions that nurture suppleness, dexterity, and awareness. As you continue to practice, the positions will become familiar, allowing you to discover new challenges, and keep you engaged along the journey. Sessions ends with a restorative pose and a moment of meditation.

We offer Ashtanga, Hatha, and Vinyasa style Yoga in one on one private sessions.  $70 – $85 per hour
